Here in Virginia Beach, we live in climate zone four, a mixed humid climate. We're blessed with the Atlantic Ocean, moderate year round weather and all the splendor of the Chesapeake Bay and its waterways. However most of us know about the deterioration of the Bay and the impact our modern lifestyle has had. With the passing of the Bay Act and the ongoing efforts of organizations like the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, we've learned about the tremendous importance of the Bay and the need to reverse the impact we've had. Multiple municipalities, State and Federal agencies are all working to bring the Chesapeake Bay back from the brink. There's still a lot of work to do but the necessary programs, legislation and regulations are in place so future generations can also enjoy all the benefits of a healthy, vibrant Chesapeake Bay.

Similarly this is what’s happening on a National level in regards to our homes and the ever increasing cost of energy. Our current codes have always been the minimum required despite what many think and it’s not a matter of “if” but “when” local, state and national agencies implement more stringent standards for residential construction.
