Accent Builders was founded by Craig Reed in Colorado in 1991. It was during his time at the University of Colorado that he discovered his love for residential construction. Working summers building decks and remodeling he soon realized that he enjoyed running his part time summer business more than his curriculum. After graduating the size of the company and their projects grew quickly. So did his interest in all phases of building; learning new techniques like SIP’s - structural insulated panels and ICF’s -insulated concrete forms along with some time honored ones like post and beam construction. 

From the beginning he realized there is no substitute for experience and was always testing his team members to make sure they were doing their best. He was an excellent carpenter himself so he insisted that his sub-contractors were as good at their trade as he was at his. It was this focus on team building that has made the company what it is today. Accent Builders represents some of the area’s best tradesmen, architects, designers, engineers and other professionals who all come together as a team to produce exceptional custom homes and renovations in Virginia Beach.
